Privacy Policy — Dataplexer for Sheets™

This policy covers one application: the Dataplexer for Sheets™ add-on, which runs Amazon Redshift SQL queries and writes the results into a spreadsheet.

It does not cover anything else. The DataPlexer website and the company’s other products — including its AI products — are covered by the separate company privacy policy, and no data described in this document is shared with any of them.

The terms on which you may use the add-on are in its terms of service.

The add-on is operated by AfterSync Technologies, S. de R.L. de C.V. (“DataPlexer”, “we”, “us”), domiciled in San Pedro Garza García, Nuevo León, Mexico. Questions about this policy: hello@dataplexer.com.

In one paragraph

The add-on runs inside your own Google Workspace™ and queries a warehouse in your own AWS account. Your spreadsheet content and your query results never reach our servers. The only thing that ever contacts us is a licence check, which carries a signed identity token and no spreadsheet data at all. Your AWS credentials are held in your own Google account’s Apps Script storage, scoped to you, and we cannot read them.

Data Access

What the add-on can reach.

Your Google user data, which is two things and no others:

  • Spreadsheet content, in the documents the add-on is installed in. It does not have, and does not ask for, access to your other spreadsheets, to files it has not been installed in, or to Google Drive™ at large. The permission it requests for this is https://www.googleapis.com/auth/spreadsheets.currentonly, which Google defines as “View and manage spreadsheets that this application has been installed in” and classifies as non-sensitive.
  • Your Google account email address, together with your Workspace domain, received inside a signed Google identity token, and used only to check your organisation’s licence. The permissions it requests for this are the standard sign-in pair, openid and userinfo.email.

The add-on requests no access to any other Google service — not Google Drive™ at large, not Gmail™, not Calendar, not Contacts, and not any other product that holds data about you.

It does request Google Apps Script™ platform permissions, which are permissions to run code rather than permissions to read data about you. They cover making outbound requests to your own warehouse — this is how a query reaches Amazon Redshift — and creating and running the timer behind scheduled refresh, which Google’s consent screen describes as running when you are not present. None of them grants access to any Google user data, and none is used to reach a Google service.

Data Use

What it does with it.

  • Spreadsheet content is read to retrieve the query you saved on a tab and the settings that go with it.
  • Spreadsheet content is written to place the rows your query returned into that tab.
  • Both happen when you run a query, and again on any refresh schedule you set. A scheduled run is unattended by design: it re-runs the saved query and rewrites the tab at the hour you chose, in a document the add-on is installed in, while nobody has that document open. This is the feature most people install the add-on for.
  • Your email address is used for one purpose: the licence check. It is not used to market to you, is not added to a mailing list, and is not profiled.

Your spreadsheet content is never used for anything else — not analytics, not product research, not training or improving any model.

Data Transfer

What leaves your Google account.

  • Spreadsheet content and query results do not reach DataPlexer servers at all. Queries travel from your Google Workspace™ to the Amazon Redshift Data API in your own AWS account, and the rows come back the same way. There is no service of ours in that path.
  • One request does leave: the licence check. The add-on asks our licence service whether your organisation is entitled to run it, sending the signed Google identity token described above. That request carries no spreadsheet content, no query, no returned row, and no warehouse credential.
  • No third parties. Your data is not sold, not shared for anyone else’s marketing, and not passed to data brokers, advertisers, or analytics providers. There is no analytics service in the add-on’s data path at all.

Data Protection

How it is protected.

  • All traffic is HTTPS. Every request the add-on makes — to your warehouse, and the licence check — travels over TLS.
  • Your AWS credentials are held in your own Google account, and we cannot read them. For a connection you set up yourself, the credential is stored in the add-on’s Apps Script user properties, a server-side store belonging to your Google user and that script. It is scoped to you: no other user of the add-on can read it, and neither can we. It is never transmitted to DataPlexer servers.
  • If your organisation runs the optional proxy, the credential sits instead in that deployment’s own Apps Script script properties, inside your Google Workspace™, held by your administrator — again, never ours.
  • With federated identity there is no stored AWS key at all. Temporary credentials are issued by AWS against your own Google identity, held only for the life of the session, and never written to a durable store.
  • Credentials never reach a browser under any of these models. They are used server-side, by Apps Script, to sign requests.
  • Spreadsheet content never leaves your Google account, so there is no copy of it anywhere in our infrastructure to protect, breach, or subpoena.
  • What we do hold — the licence records described below — is stored with the raw identifier already discarded: we keep a one-way salted digest, not your email address.

Data Retention and Deletion

How long it is kept, and how it is deleted.

  • No spreadsheet content is retained, because none is received. There is nothing to delete.
  • Data held in your own Google account — your saved queries, connection settings and any stored credential — belongs to you. It stays until you remove it. Removing the add-on’s access through your Google account’s security settings ends its ability to read or write any of it.
  • Licence records held by us consist of a timestamp, the decision, operational fields such as a latency measure and cache state, and a one-way salted digest of your Google user id — never the token, never your email address, never your domain. We keep them only as long as needed to operate and audit licensing, plus any period the law requires, and then delete them.

No artificial intelligence, and no model training

The Dataplexer for Sheets™ add-on contains no artificial-intelligence or machine-learning code, and sends no data to any AI or machine-learning service. It builds SQL from the choices you make in the query builder, or runs SQL you wrote yourself, executes it against your own Amazon Redshift warehouse, and writes the rows back into your sheet. There is no model, no inference and no training anywhere in that path.

DataPlexer sells other products that do use AI. No Google Workspace™ data from this add-on reaches any of them, or any other AI or machine-learning system. They are separate products with separate data paths, and this document covers only the add-on.

Limited Use

Dataplexer's use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google user data is never used, transferred, or sold to create, train, or improve any foundational or generalized machine learning or artificial intelligence model.

Two disclosures about the page you are reading right now, so that nothing here is contradicted by what your browser can see: this page loads Google reCAPTCHA v3 from www.google.com, which is the anti-bot check used by the request form elsewhere on the site, and which may set its own cookies and receives your IP address and browser information. This website sets no cookies of its own. Neither has anything to do with the add-on’s data path, and neither is used to profile you. The full account is in the website privacy policy.

Children

The add-on is a business tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age at which applicable law requires parental consent.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The current version is always the one published at dataplexer.com/redshift-gsheets-integration/privacy/, with the date of last update below.
